MOLYKOTE M Gear Oil Additive is a stable dispersion of molybdenum disulfide in a high-quality mineral oil, designed to improve the extreme-pressure (EP) lubrication properties of petroleum gear oils. It maintains compatibility with most gear oils, exhibiting minimal impact on their viscosity and oxidation stability. The additive's fine particle size (0.5 micron average) ensures easy dispersion and compatibility with standard oil filtration systems (which typically retain particles larger than 10 microns).
The additive is easily mixed into most petroleum oils, requiring little to no additional effort. When added to gear oils already containing phosphorus, sulfur, and chlorine EP agents, MOLYKOTE M Gear Oil Additive significantly enhances the oil's load-carrying capacity. Recommended concentrations vary based on the application, ranging from 3% to 10% by volume for machine tools and cutting fluids, and 5% to 10% for gears, depending on operating loads and speeds.
