MOLYKOTE D-6818 Anti-Friction Coating
MOLYKOTE D-6818 is a heat-curable dry-film lubricant designed for metal-to-metal contact situations operating at slow to medium speeds and low to medium loads. It's particularly effective in heavily loaded friction contacts, even at higher speeds, and exhibits compatibility with various fluids including motor oils, gasoline, diesel fuel, and grease. Suitable for use in both automotive and industrial applications, this coating is ideal for components like air compressor parts.
Application involves thorough surface cleaning and degreasing prior to coating. Pre-treatments such as phosphating or sandblasting can improve adhesion and longevity. The coating is applied via spray coating to achieve a dry-film thickness of 10-20 µm after thorough stirring. Curing typically involves a 10-minute flash-off at 80°C (176°F) followed by a 60-minute cure at 220°C (428°F). However, curing times may be affected by factors like substrate material and oven type, necessitating testing to ensure proper cure and adhesion before finalizing application specifications.
A sprayable anti-friction coating with excellent wearing resistance to withstand extremely high loading pressure under low viscosity oil condition.
