MOLYKOTE D-7409 Anti-Friction Coating
MOLYKOTE D-7409 is a heat-curable dry-film lubricant designed for metal-to-metal contact situations experiencing moderate to high loads and slow to moderately fast movement. Its formulation is ideal for high-stress sliding areas with low speeds, oscillating motion, or intermittent operation, particularly in applications where high temperatures preclude the use of oils and greases. The coating provides permanent lubrication and resists corrosion, ensuring extended component lifespan.
Application involves thorough surface cleaning and degreasing prior to coating. For optimal adhesion and service life, pre-treatments such as phosphating or sandblasting (180 grit) are recommended. The coating should be stirred well before and during application, which can be achieved via spraying (3-5 bar air pressure), dipping, centrifuging, or brushing to achieve a uniform 5-20 m dry film thickness. Curing is typically completed at 220 C for 30 minutes. Properly stored, the product maintains usability for 36 months.
