MOLYKOTE 557 Silicone Dry Film Lubricant (Aerosol) An extreme-pressure lubricant offering exceptional release and lubricating properties, applied as a colorless, non-staining wax film from an aerosol or other methods, suitable for various industrial applications and authorized for use in federally inspected meat and poultry facilities (non-food contact).
MOLYKOTE 557 is a silicone-based dry film lubricant supplied as a liquid or aerosol. After solvent evaporation, it leaves behind a colorless, non-staining wax film. The lubricant is free of PTFE and PFAS, and its application is versatile, accommodating aerosol spraying, automatic lubrication systems, brushing, or dipping. A thin film provides optimal results, with effectiveness beginning immediately after solvent evaporation. While the product's wax component begins to melt at 32 C (90 F), it maintains tenacious adhesion to most surfaces.
For bulk material that has separated, heating to 32 C (90 F) and stirring until the wax dissolves is recommended to prevent freezing. Efficient application techniques, such as minimizing solvent loss through closed systems and small dip containers, are advised. In cases of unavoidable solvent loss during dip operations, replenishing with a premix of 94% naphtha and methyl amyl alcohol is suggested. This product is approved for use in federally inspected meat and poultry establishments where food contact is impossible.
