MOLYKOTE 7400 Anti-Friction Coating
MOLYKOTE 7400 is a water-based, air-curing dry lubricant designed for metal-to-metal contact situations experiencing high loads and slow to moderately fast movement. It's particularly effective in enhancing the running-in process of gearboxes, sliding bearings, and guides, providing maintenance-free, permanent lubrication, especially in applications where oil or grease is unsuitable due to design constraints or contamination risks. The coating improves performance in low-speed or oscillating operations.
Application involves cleaning and degreasing the surface, with optional phosphatization or sandblasting (180 grit) for enhanced adhesion and longevity. The coating is applied using various methods such as spraying, dipping, centrifuging, or brushing to achieve a dry film thickness between 5 and 20 μm. Curing time varies with temperature: 40 minutes at 23°C, 10 minutes at 50°C, or 5 minutes at 90°C (object temperature). The formulation includes solid lubricants, an inhibitor, an organic binder, water, and stabilizers, and is free from flammable solvents.
