MOLYKOTE 3099 HVIC Compound
MOLYKOTE 3099 HVIC (High Voltage Insulator Coating) Compound is a grease-like silicone coating providing long-term water filming and flashover resistance for electrical insulators. MOLYKOTE 3099 HVIC Compound is a specially formulated silicone coating designed to protect electrical insulators from the damaging effects of high-voltage corona stress, ultraviolet light, water erosion, and particulate contamination. Its unique formulation includes an arc-resistant filler that inhibits arc growth and prevents glaze damage, thus maximizing insulator performance and lifespan. The grease-like consistency ensures easy application and good adhesion to properly prepared surfaces.
Application is straightforward, requiring initial cleaning of the insulator surface to remove any organic materials or detergents. The compound can be applied manually using a cloth pad or brush, or via airless spray equipment after dilution with a suitable solvent. A coating thickness of 1/16 inch to 1/8 inch is typically achieved, providing complete and easily visible coverage due to its opaque gray color. For fog-type insulators, care should be taken to avoid overfilling between the underside skirts.
In addition to a high level of flashover resistance, MOLYKOTE 3099 HVIC Compound incorporates an arc-resistant filler that inhibits arc growth. This helps protect the insulator from glaze damage when the coating s water repellency is significantly diminished and arcing is experienced. Another benefit of MOLYKOTE 3099 HVIC Compound is the ease of handling. The compound is easy to spread, not stringy, and shows good adhesion to properly prepared insulators
