MOLYKOTE D-321 R Anti-Friction Coating
MOLYKOTE D-321 R Anti-Friction Coating is an air-curing dry-film lubricant for metal-on-metal applications under high loads and slow to medium speeds. MOLYKOTE D-321 R is an air-curing dry-film lubricant available in bulk liquid or aerosol spray form. It's specifically designed for metal-to-metal contact situations, particularly those involving slow to moderately fast movements and substantial loads. This lubricant is effective in improving the running-in process of components and providing lubrication for various applications including plain bearings, bushings, sleeves, power screw drives, threaded connections, fasteners, and high voltage switches, even in demanding operational environments. Application methods vary depending on the form; the bulk liquid requires thorough stirring before brushing or spraying, while the aerosol requires shaking before application of a thick, even coat. Proper surface preparation, including cleaning and degreasing, is essential for optimal adhesion and performance.
The coating achieves a touch-dry state within 5 minutes at 23 C, a process that can be accelerated to 1 minute with hot air (80 C). Complete curing is attained after 2 hours at 23 C. The recommended dry film thickness is between 5 and 20 m. The product exhibits a viscosity of 23 seconds at 23 C, a density of 1.07 g/ml at 20 C, and a nonvolatile content of 29%, with a broad service temperature range from -180 C to 450 C.
