Actasol – A biodegradable, low-volatility solvent for aircraft surface preparation and cleaning.

Actasol is a specialized solvent designed as a safe and effective replacement for harsh chemicals like Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK), 1,1,1 Trichloroethane, Toluene, and their blends, commonly used in the aerospace industry. Primarily employed for surface preparation, it excels at general cleaning and the removal of corrosion preventative coatings, offering a significantly improved safety profile compared to traditional solvents such as mineral spirits and chlorinated solvents. Its biodegradable nature reduces hazardous waste disposal costs and minimizes health risks associated with more toxic alternatives.

Actasol is applied easily using brushes, rags, or Scotch-Brite pads, effectively degreasing and cleaning oily and soiled aircraft surfaces. Its applications range from wing leading and trailing edges to hydraulic pipes, landing gear, and wheel wells, and it is capable of removing all CIC from aircraft structures. The solvent boasts a flashpoint of 51°C (PMCC), a specific gravity of 0.84 (at 20°C), and is characterized by its 100% volatility, non-toxicity, and nil residue.
