03GY292 is a chemically cured polyurethane military topcoat from the 03 Series, designed for exterior use on aircraft and aerospace equipment. It offers excellent weather, humidity, and salt spray resistance, with good gloss and color retention. Compatible with various primers and spray equipment, it has a service temperature range of -54°C to 177°C (-65°F to 350°F).
03GY292, part of the 03 Series Polyurethane Military Topcoats by PPG Aerospace, is a high-performance, chemically cured coating formulated for exterior applications on aircraft and aerospace equipment. When applied over compatible primers (e.g., MIL-PRF-23377, MIL-PRF-85582), it provides superior protection against weathering, humidity, salt spray, hydraulic fluids, lubricating oils, JP-5 fuel, and water. The topcoat is qualified to multiple specifications, including MIL-PRF-85285 Type I, and is compatible with primers like Desoprime™ epoxy and Koroflex®.
Available in gloss (>90 G.U.), semi-gloss (15-45 G.U.), and camouflage (<10 G.U.) finishes, it supports AMS-C-595 color standards and custom colors. The mix ratio varies by finish: 1:1 (base:catalyst) for gloss and 3:1 for semi-gloss/camouflage. Application requires no induction time, with a pot life of 4 hours at 21-25°C (70-77°F). It can be applied using conventional, HVLP, or electrostatic spray equipment to achieve a dry film thickness of 1.7-2.3 mils (42-58 microns), offering theoretical coverage of 19.8-21.5 m²/liter at 25 microns.
The coating supports a service temperature range of -54°C to 177°C (-65°F to 350°F) and has a VOC of <420 g/L. Dry times at 22-28°C (71-84°F) include 6 hours to touch, 12 hours to tape, and 14 days for full cure, with forced dry options available. Proper surface preparation, such as cleaning with Desoclean™ 110 and abrading primers applied over 48 hours prior, ensures optimal adhesion. Equipment should be cleaned with specified solvents like IS-213 Polyurethane Reducer. Store between 5°C to 35°C (41°F to 95°F) for a 12-month shelf life.
