RTV577 is a two-component, platinum-catalyzed, addition-cure silicone elastomer formulated for medium-hardness gaskets, seals, and encapsulants. When mixed at a 10:1 base-to-catalyst ratio (by weight), it cures at room temperature to form a tough, tear-resistant rubber with a Shore A hardness of approximately 50. Its bright white color allows for easy verification of homogeneous mixing and provides good contrast when used in manual assembly or molding operations. RTV577 exhibits excellent thermal stability (–60 °C to +200 °C continuous, +250 °C intermittent), outstanding weather and UV resistance, and low compression set, making it ideal for aerospace gasketing, electronic potting, and high-temperature sealing around engine components. The cured elastomer also has very low shrinkage (<0.1 %) and negligible outgassing, crucial for sensitive avionics and vacuum-environment applications. Supplied in a 12 lb plastic pail, RTV577 Base offers shelf-stable convenience; simply add the Tin Catalyst (DBT) in the proper proportion, mix thoroughly, and pour or brush into molds.
