One-component, self-leveling silicone sealant ideal for vertical and overhead applications requiring a pourable solution, curing to a tough, durable rubber with excellent adhesion and environmental resistance.
Momentive RTV112 is a ready-to-use, one-component adhesive sealant that cures at room temperature through exposure to atmospheric moisture. Its self-leveling property makes it particularly suitable for vertical and overhead surfaces where a pourable sealant is needed. The curing process releases acetic acid vapors. Application involves dispensing the sealant onto a clean, dry surface, ensuring a maximum thickness of 6mm (1/4 inch). A curing time of approximately 3 days at 25 C (77 F) and 50% relative humidity is recommended.
Once cured, RTV112 forms a durable silicone rubber exhibiting excellent adhesion, flexibility at low temperatures, and resistance to weathering, ozone, and various chemicals. It also provides effective electrical insulation. While offering robust mechanical properties including a tensile strength of 23 kg/cm (325 lb/in ), 325% elongation, and a 25 Shore A hardness, it's important to note that RTV112 is not appropriate for applications involving permanent implantation in the human body or delicate electronics susceptible to metal corrosion.
