RTV615 cures at room temperature to a high-strength silicone elastomer: it has a work time of approximately 4 hours at 25 °C, develops sufficient handling strength in 24 hours, and can be fully cured in as little as 15 minutes at 150 °C for rapid production workflows.
Upon curing (1 hr @ 100 °C), RTV615 exhibits a Shore A hardness of 44, tensile strength of 65 kg/cm² (920 psi), and elongation of 120%, with minimal shrinkage (0.2%), ensuring durable mechanical performance and dimensional stability.
Electrically, the compound delivers excellent insulation—dielectric strength of 19.7 kV/mm (500 V/mil), a low dielectric constant of 2.7 at 1 kHz, and volume resistivity on the order of —while thermally, it remains elastomeric from –60 °C to +204 °C (–75 °F to 400 °F) and has a thermal conductivity of 0.11 W/m·K.
Optical clarity makes RTV615 ideal for potting applications where visual inspection is required (e.g., solar-cell encapsulation), and its low viscosity permits seamless flow into complex geometries. Kits are compatible with both hand mixing and automatic dispensing equipment, and the formulation contains no solvents, reducing production line hazards.
