Momentive SnapSil RTV108 is a one-component, ready-to-use adhesive sealant that cures at room temperature when exposed to atmospheric moisture, forming a tough, durable silicone rubber. Its ease of use makes it suitable for diverse applications demanding strong adhesion and resistance to harsh conditions. Note that the curing process releases acetic acid vapors. Application involves ensuring clean, dry surfaces, applying the sealant evenly to one surface, pressing the surfaces together, and allowing for room-temperature curing (typically within 24 hours, depending on conditions).
The cured sealant boasts impressive mechanical properties, including a tensile strength of 28 kg/cm (400 lb/in ), 450% elongation, and 30 Shore A hardness. Further properties include a tear strength of 8 kg/cm (45 lb/in), shear strength of 14 kg/cm (200 lb/in ), flexibility down to -60 C/-75 F, and continuous operation up to 204 C/400 F. It also exhibits excellent resistance to weathering, ozone, and chemicals, along with strong electrical insulation characteristics (20 kV/mm (500 V/mil) dielectric strength and 3 1013 ohm cm volume resistivity).
