3M Stikit Low Profile Abrasive Disc Back-up Pad provides secure attachment for a 3M Stikit Disc (sold separately) on a random orbital sander or other rotary tool. This lightweight, shock-resistant backup pad is constructed of firm density foam for sanding flat surfaces and has a tapered edge for applications where some flexibility is needed.About Our Stikit SystemOur 3M Stikit Low Profile Abrasive Disc Back-up Pad was designed for use with 3M Stikit abrasive discs. The 3M Stikit system was designed for convenient changes between abrasive grades or applications. Stikit abrasive discs come ready to use with a pressure sensitive adhesive coating on the backside so that attaching them to the hand block is as simple as pressing on a sticker. Yet they remove cleanly without adhesive residue left on the block. Low Profile for Flattening and LevelingThe taper on 3M Stikit Low Profile Abrasive Disc Back-up Pad, either 10 or 15 degrees, helps it conform to small contours and get inside tight corners. Beat Bumps in the RoadSome Stikit backup pads feature holes for enhanced dust extraction while others – like 3M Stikit Low Profile Abrasive Disc Back-up Pad – do not. Operators may opt for a backup pad without holes when working on substrates where loading or debris are not as much of a concern. The 6” diameter disc has a 3/8” thickness, which qualifies it as low profile. Low profile, hard density backup pads are good for flattening and leveling surfaces, because they tackle imperfections without yielding or deflecting. When you anticipate bumps in the road – this backup pad is good to have on hand.
