3M Cloth Roll 302D is an abrasive sanding cloth used to create abrasive belts for metalworking. It is constructed on a flexible, J-weight cotton cloth backing that features open coat construction for consistent sanding action. The aluminum oxide abrasive and flexible backing make this cloth an ideal product for dry applications such as surface dimensioning and light defect removal.

Flexible Sanding Cloth
3M Cloth Roll 302D is used to create abrasive belts best suited for metal sanding and finishing thanks to its durability and fast cutting aluminum oxide mineral. Its flexible, J-weight cotton cloth backing provides durability and can conform to the shape of contoured parts for consistent finishing. The abrasive side features an open coat of aluminum oxide grains that self-fracture and stay sharp to provide a fast cut and a fine finish.

Heat and Load Resistant
The 302D Cloth also uses a resin bonding which is specially designed to resist thermal and chemical deterioration, which can occur during any sanding application. This bond is very tough and excellent for precision work on hard and soft substrates. This also allows for faster material removal and a higher cut rate. Open coat construction means the abrasive grains are placed with space between them to help evacuate sanding debris and avoid material loading the cutting edge of the aluminum oxide. This allows the abrasive mineral to continue cutting even when sanding soft materials that would otherwise load and hinder sanding ability.
