Highlights

Compatible with concrete or asphalt, fresh or aged, wet or dry for consistent low maintenance results
Cures to a smooth surface – no finishing required
Encapsulates, insulates and protects detector loop wires from harsh roadway environments
Ready to use, with no measuring, mixing or heating required
Sealant does not shrink, eliminating call-backs for refilling
Sealant remains temperature stable, so it won’t degrade or fracture over time
Designed specifically for shielding detector loop wires, 3M Detector Loop Sealant 5000 cures to a tough rubber surface that encapsulates, insulates and protects while resisting weather and chemicals. Applied right from its ply pack, it hardens smooth without finishing and stays strong and flexible even in extreme temperatures. The sealant bonds with virtually any concrete or asphalt surface. We formulated our 3M Detector Loop Sealant 5000 specifically for protecting detector loop wires even in challenging roadway environments. We also designed this sealant to be extremely easy and cost-effective, both during and long after application. Tough Yet Flexible The sealant can be applied directly into the sawcut to form a durable tack free shell around detector loop wires without running into low spots, even on crowned or sloped roadways. It cures naturally in 24 hours, reacting with moisture in the environment to produce a rubber that resists weather, oils, gasoline, antifreeze, brake fluid and road salt. This tough, flexible material also prevents the wires from moving around as it keeps contaminants away from them, minimizing false calls. The cured sealant presents a smooth surface across the sawcut so workers do not have to spend extra time finishing. It won’t degrade in high temperatures, fracture even at temperatures as low as -40° F, or shrink over time; this eliminates call-backs for refilling or additional repairs.
